Darjeeling - The Champagne of Tea
I’m sure you would love to sample this special tea. Known throughout the world as Darjeeling the champagne of tea. True Darjeeling is grown in a town of the same name in the Indian state of West Bengal at between 750 to 2000 meters high in century-old established tea gardens.
This tea is well known for its flavor which is exotic and exclusive. You just have to try it but then you will be convinced to have a permanent place for it in your home. Roughly 10 million kilos of tea are produced in Darjeeling each year and because of its exclusive and expensive nature as well as its floral aroma, it is known as the champagne of tea. In fact tea connoisseurs use the term muscatel (named after fine grapes which are made into exclusive wines) to describe it. It started in the mid 1800s when a British doctor brought Chinese tea seeds to the area and they grew so well that the government decided to grow tea in the region. These plantations still exist today with a total of 86 gardens covering 19,000 hectares. The harvesting (or plucking) seasons lasts from March to November. It is then gently processed to bring you the tea that many connoisseurs around the world enjoy. You can find lots more information on the internet and there are websites dedicated exclusively to this tea. You can also order it online – it is simple, easy and convenient and you can have this wonderful Indian tea shipped to your door.
So I hope you will give this superb tea a try. Something special to offer guests and you can be sure they will enjoy it. Darjeeling is a very special place (even Mark Twain thought so) -it is called the Queen of the Himalayas. That's why it produces the champagne of tea!
