The Tea Bag Revolution

If you're a tea drinker, then like many of us, you use a tea bag when you drink your cuppa. These bags are incredibly convenient - you can just put a bag in a mug or cup, pour boiling water over it, and presto there's your tea.  Now you would guess that the Queen of England wouldn't be doing that - and here's why.

If you don't know the truth about these bags, then listen up. The reason tea connoisseurs won't use them is that most bags out there - from your local supermarket to your favorite convenience store – just contain "tea dust".  What is tea dust, you may ask - well the name says it all. It's basically what is left over after the quality leaves have been taken to be sold as premium quality tea. This being tiny crushed leaves and often bits of twigs of the tea plant, camillia sinensis which are packed into bags made of cheap paper, chemically sealed and sent off to retail outlets everywhere. Now you will realize why loose tea is the very best way to go if you want a quality tea experience. But wait, all is not lost, there's a tea bag revolution going on right now. Thankfully some bright people in the tea industry have made it possible to have a great cup of quality tea with great new bag ideas. Some tea manufacturers are now putting the whole leaves of their tea into special bags, which also give the leaves room to unfurl and expand in the bag, thus emitting their whole flavor and aroma.  At the top of the list is the pyramid but square 'quality' bags are also out there. These bags are often made of cotton, gauze or even silk; some are even hand made - thus taking that cheap old tea bag to great new heights. Check it out on the internet – there are many amazing tea sites where you can find more information and purchase as well.

If you want the very best tea experience without the hassle of loose tea leaves, then these special bags are the answer. They are incredibly convenient and deserve a place in your kitchen cupboard.
