Why Decaf Tea?

You might want to try decaf tea (tea with less caffeine in it). There are now some great teas on the market that have a reduced caffeine content.

You obviously need all the facts so here is how tea is decaffeinated. It's a simple process and the tea tastes just the same.  There are two methods used to eliminate most but not all of the caffeine content. The first uses CO2 which is the safer method, using water and carbon dioxide (which makes soft drinks and mineral water fizzy) and retains 95% of the polyphenols or catechins in the tea – these give us the health benefits of tea. The second method utilizes ethyl acetate which is cheaper and easier but only retains 30% of the polyphenols. So now you have a choice of methods.  If the decaf method isn't mentioned on the package, you could find out from the manufacturer of the tea.  This tea is a great choice for tea lovers who want to consume less caffeine.  It is available either in loose form or in tea bags.  Have a look at the great tea websites and you'll find all the information you need and can even order this tea and have it delivered to your door.  Ordering online is now safe and easy.

If decaf tea is for you, there is another method of reducing the caffeine content by up to 80% and that is simply by pouring hot water onto the tea for just under a minute - around 45 seconds - and then strain off the liquid. You have now just poured most of the caffeine down the drain. Pour boiling water onto the leaves again and enjoy your tea as usual. You can now sip tea all day and not be concerned about high caffeine levels.  Tea is truly the best.
